Allotments

Example Town Council owns and manages two allotment sites:

  • Weston Avenue Allotment (Weston Avenue) has 184 plots
  • Alwin’s Field Allotment (Alwin’s Field) has 88 plots.

The annual price for an allotment is Half Plot  £21.25

Allotment rent is from 1 January to 31 December and on acceptance of an Allotment you agree to pay full rental for that year plus a one off fee of £5.00 for the security gate key. From then on the rent is invoiced annually in October as nine months arrears and three months in advance.

If you are over 60 years old you will be entitled to a 50% concession, photo ID will be required (passport, driving licence or bus pass).

Are you interested in having an allotment?

>Working an allotment can be extremely rewarding, offering the opportunity to grow your own food as well as providing physical exercise, mental health and wellbeing benefits and the chance to make new friends with fellow plot-holders. However, it is also hard work and demanding.  Plots must be maintained at a reasonable level to avoid the spread of weeds and reduce potential risks such as vermin or fire. We estimate that a plot will require an average of 7-10 hours’ work per week, particularly during the growing season (less so during the winter months).  Maintaining an allotment will require a commitment but can bring many benefits.

If you feel able to commit to a long term project and would like to be added to the waiting list, please complete the form below.

Waiting Lists are operated on a “by date of application” system. Please note since March 2020 we have seen a significant increase in demand for our allotments, meaning that the waiting time may be several years. We can only re-allocate plots once a tenant has given notice or has been asked to release their tenancy following an inspection process.

The plots and waiting list will usually be reviewed in March, August and October each year; therefore if a plot does become available to you, this is when a member of the team will be in touch.

Waiting lists are only open to residents within the parish of Leighton-Linslade.
